IIUM.FM's First Birthday!

Salam gorgeous people! ;D

No kidding! IIUM.FM is already one years old?? YES!!! Finally the happy news is out to all!!! \^0^/

IIUM.FM was officially launched on the 26th of May 2010 by IIUM's Rector, Prof. Dato' Sri Dr. Syed Arabi Idid. The Internet radio serves as a platform for Communication major students specialising in Electronic Media to learn and apply their radio broadcasting skills via assignments, projects, practicum or practical training. Since the radio can be heard through Internet streaming (and being under an international university), its format is international music and has listeners from all across the globe including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Yemen, Montenegro, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, South Korea, Netherlands, Taiwan, United States, Thailand, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, and Egypt (based on our traffic record in January 2011).

A Communication lecturer, Sir Aznan Mat Piah, who specialised in teaching Public Relations had explained in his blog so beautifully in detail the unique content of IIUM.FM that it is an honour to include it here:

The radio broadcast gives good opportunity for students to have the real feeling of being involved in the operation of the broadcast station where they prepare news, gather information, carry out live interviews, and organize and prepare programs for broadcasts under the able guidance of their experienced lecturer and a broadcaster, Mr. Johanni Saleh. The contents of the broadcast vary from current news items, and campus activities to research and academic highlights, and scholastic views on social and religious matters, particularly relating to Islam and its portrayal in society and the media.

You can read his full article about the radio right HERE.

IIUM.FM has come a long way since it's launch last year. Nonstop international music from China all the way till the US! Informative interviews of distinguished guests including renowned academicians, various cool programmes from talented deejays, top 20 music charts (remember Carta 20? =D), news from talented newscasters, retro hits shows, weekly live telecast of the Friday khutbah directly from the IIUM mosque, and lots more! Phew!

Various events are also covered by the IIUM.FM team including the OIC International Debate Championship, IIUM Convocation Fiesta (Convest) 2010 promotion in  IIUM Kuantan campus, mahalah events (Mahalah Aminah), IIUM PC Fair 2010, launching of the new Bank Muamalat branch in IIUM, and IIUM's Ummatic Week!

All contents are produced by students, for both students and the general public. The IIUM.FM crew would always improve and upgrade their performances from time to time with the support and encouragements from the radio's listeners. Suggestions and constructive criticisms are also very much welcomed. Because, hey, IIUM.FM aims to provide the best just for you! =D

All in all, IIUM.FM would not be as it stands today without its founding father, Sir Johanni Saleh, lecturer, supervisor and mentor for all Electronic Media students. Simply called Sir Jo by students and lecturers under the Communication Department, he is best known for his vast experience of more than 20 years in the radio broadcasting industry. A special THANK YOU we bid to you, Sir Jo! =)

Of course, a birthday wouldn't be complete without a birthday celebration!!So when exactly is IIUM.FM's first birthday bash? You just got to stay tune to find out, coz an update on that is on the way!

Countdown to IIUM.FM's first birthday: TWO DAYS TO GO PEOPLE!!! WOOHHHOOO!!! \^0^/

As always, keep on sticking with IIUM.FM, Your Campus Radio! =D
