Eid Mubarak 2011!

Salam awesome people!

Unas (ra) reported that when the Prophet Muhammad (saw) migrated from Makkah to Madinah, the people of Madinah used to have two festivals. On those two days they had carnivals and festivity. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) asked the Ansaar (the Muslims of Madinah) about it. They replied that before Islam they used to have carnivals on those two joyous days. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) told them: 'Instead of those two days, Allah has appointed two other days which are better, the days of Eid-al-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha.' (Hadith)

Time surely flies this blessed as we are already approaching the end of Ramadan 2011. What a short journey, huh? Still, we believe that it was definitely a wonderful journey spent with family & friends, and we do hope that all of you had a fulfilling holy month this year! =)

To all IIUM staffs & students, whether in Malaysia or other parts of the world, and for the rest of our fellow Muslim brothers & sisters everywhere, IIUM.fm would like to wish a heartfelt EID MUBARAK to you!! May Allah S.W.T. bless you all with much peace, joy and happiness always! =D

So, want to know the significance of Eid? Check it out right HERE!

And what should we do on the night of Eid ul Fitri, the DAY itself, and the whole of Shawwal month? It's just a click away right HERE. =D

Ramadan is BACK!

Assalamualaikum beautiful people!

That's right, the holy month of Islam has come to embrace us again! And in the IIUM environment, this Ramadan marks the beginning of a new change for IIUM residents as the new academic calendar allows us to celebrate Ramadan at home with our families. =) Therefore, IIUM.fm would like to wish a fulfilling, enchanting, beautiful Ramadan to all IIUM citizens and the rest of the Muslims everywhere across the world!

Here's something that we'd like to share with you about Ramadan:

We should note that the month of Ramadan is the best of months. This month is superior to others in four things:
1.     In it there is the best night of the year, which is Lailatul Al-Qadr. Worship on this night is better than worshiping for a thousand months.
2.     In this month was revealed the best of Books to the best of the Prophets (peace and blessings be upon them all).
3.     In this month the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are shut, and the devils are chained up.
4.     There are many kinds of worship in Ramadan, such as fasting, praying Qiyam Al-Layl (Night Vigil Prayer), feeding the poor, performing i`tikaf (religious retreat), giving charity, and reading the Qur’an.

How do we welcome Ramadan? How can we prepare for Ramadan? Read more on this beautiful blog post here -----> SuperMuslims : Welcoming Ramadan =D

Of course, IIUM.fm has an awesome line-up of programmes, songs and nasyeeds just for you this blessed month!

We have a special programme,
'Ramadan Reminders with Yusuf Estes',
every day this Ramadan at 2 p.m.
May we all benefit from his reminders!
