About Us

IIUM.fm is the official Internet radio of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and was officially launched on the 26th of May 2010 by IIUM's Rector, Prof. Dato' Sri Dr. Syed Arabi Idid. It operates from the Kuliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge & Human Sciences (KIRKHS) building under the purview of the Department of Communication. The department has a dedicated audio lab which serves as a platform for Communication major students specialising in Electronic Media to learn and apply their radio broadcasting skills via assignments, projects, practicum or practical training.

IIUM.fm's founding father, Sir Johanni Saleh serves as an academic lecturer, supervisor and mentor for all Electronic Media students working under the radio. Simply called Sir Jo by students and lecturers under the Communication Department, he is best known for his vast experience of more than 20 years in the radio broadcasting industry.

Since the campus radio belongs to an international university and can be heard through Internet streaming, its format is international music and has listeners from all across the globe including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Yemen, Montenegro, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, South Korea, Netherlands, Taiwan, United States, Thailand, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, and Egypt (based on our traffic record in January 2011).

IIUM.fm provides not only music from across the globe, but also an assortment of student-produced content such as radio capsules, public service announcements, lively talk shows, captivating programmes, promos of campus activities, informative interviews of both students and academicians, and current news consisting local and international headlines and weather reports. The radio also provides weekly live telecast of Friday khutbah (sermon) prayers directly from the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah mosque situated at the centre of IIUM Gombak campus.

IIUM.fm operates on an automated system for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On weekdays, lively deejays and newscasters would deliver their content on scheduled hours from 9am to 6pm, and occasionally on week nights as well.

The IIUM.FM crew would always improve and upgrade their performances from time to time with the support and encouragements from the radio's listeners.
