The Chinese New Year is known to be the most important holiday of the year in Chinese society. The Chinese lunar calendar determines the Chinese New Year date.

There are many other customs that have been passed on for centuries. Families reunite and have dinner at home on Chinese New Year’s Eve. Elders in the house give red envelopes to the younger ones and wish them health and good luck. Also, people bring lots of gifts when they visit relatives and friends during the Chinese New Year period.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our Chinese Students and Chinese in Malaysia, A Happy & Prosperous Chinese New Year. May this year of Rabbit bring you lots of fortune and wisdom.

NEW SEGMENT : DUNIA RETRO

Dear Listeners,

For those who love to listen to the oldies songs, this is a good news for you!

Retro music refers to music that came from the retro era. From peace loving hippie music, to classic rock, to 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's era surf, these retro music are sure to please your ears. There are people still live for these music to remember its glam era and movement.

Hence, in Malaysia, there are many retro music followers that still like and love to listen to those songs.

Regarding to this trend, we realise that retro music will continue to have an influence in this new era. Thus, we are proudly to introduce a new segment "Dunia Retro" for you.

INTERNSHIP

As for you information, currently we have five students who are doing their internship at IIUM.FM. They are :

They will assist the radio station operation as well as help the practicum students works. The internship period will be until 18th February 2011.
